When citizens of Clintonville heard in late 2020 that Nancy’s Home Cooking was closing due to a combination of the COVID-19 outbreak and the social unrest which captured the city’s attention, they were filled with disappointment. The restaurant, which first opened in 1968, quickly became a staple of the town and a favorite dining location for many. Their cuisine of American classics such as chicken and noodles were sorely missed in the restaurant's absence.
In early 2024, Tim Burkhammer acquired Starliner Diner. Not long after, on February 7th, Starliner Diner announced on their Facebook page that they would be merging with Nancy’s Home Cooking in Hilliard. Nancy’s, which had been unavailable to customers over the last couple of years, was planned to be reintroduced to patrons in Hilliard through this merger. It did not take long for classics like chicken and noodles and meatloaf to appear alongside menu options for Starliner Diner. While not all of the Nancy’s Home Cooking menu could be preserved in the new, joint menu, many of the favorite items from the establishment will be listed as specials, which can be ordered from Monday through Friday.
Starliner Diner has been a staple in Hilliard since its opening in 1995. Its eclectic and fun atmosphere have attracted residents and visitors alike, so the addition of Nancy’s Home Cooking is an exciting new way to elevate Hilliard’s dining scene. As a community, it was not only important but necessary to support the longstanding and beloved business. Starliner’s patrons can expect to find the diner’s famous Cuban-American and brunch offerings on the Starliner Diner menu with the added bonus of Nancy’s specials during the week as well as smoked pork, chicken and brisket on occasion.
