We could not be more excited to shout “Welcome Home!” from the rooftops as The City Mercantile returns to Hilliard with a vintage home market that is unique to them.
From 2017 to 2021, Kirsten and Andres Oviedo hosted markets in Hilliard before taking a break to spend more time with their growing family. They are back with a new brand, but the same high-quality event people have been craving since they stopped hosting the markets at the fairgrounds. The experience they create with their markets is what sets them apart.
Kirsten explained, “Our vendors are so talented and really put a lot of thought and creativity into their booths. While we love to shop and support local pop-ups, the displays at The City Mercantile feel more like tiny storefronts rather than just items set out on a table. We spend almost an entire week transforming the fairgrounds into a charming shopping experience.”
The market is more than a shopping experience. There will be opportunities for shoppers to wear a creative hat as well. The market will feature a DIY bracelet charm bar, Craft Your Night Columbus will be on site doing resin jewelry classes throughout the weekend and there will be a custom hat decorating station!
With four of Columbus' favorite food trucks in the food truck court (we hear there may be Apple Cider Slushies!), the market will have delicious options to fuel up for shopping while enjoying live music.
Why Hilliard? Simply put: it’s home. Kirsten explained “Hilliard gave us our start and we still have so many loyal customers and vendors from the area that are ready to see this market come back. Downtown Hilliard is a gem in itself and we love being able to contribute to its charm, even if it's only a couple times a year.”
Kirsten and Andres are passionate about giving back as well. Portions of the event’s proceeds will go to Out of Darkness, a local non-profit that combats human trafficking in the Columbus area.
